Just Another Tired Tuesday

I just had a honking cup of coffee with some hazelnut flavoured creamer. So bad, but so good. You know, I’m really just a regular old North American girl. I mean, screw the French press or espresso machine, I’m going straight for ghetto drip filters and artificially flavoured non-dairy creamer. 😛 My Francophone boyfriend is all horrified by my philistine ways! Noooooooo! I mean, mais non!

Actually, Dave has been known to use creepy creamer in his coffee before too. And when the Bodum is packed away, filtered will do too. So there. Just don’t tell his parents. They’ll think that la maudite anglaise has corrupted him. Heehee.

But seriously, when did I get back to drinking a cup a day? I haven’t done that consistently since my last year of high school! And what is up with needing to drink that shizz at night? Help.

I blame the fact that I stayed up till 3 last night and then woke up close to noon today. So much for hitting the gym in the morning as planned! And so much for a regular sleep schedule! Ah!

Those applications are still whooping my ass. I hate writing applications:

Hello, selection commitee!

My name is Adrienne and I came to law school to escape the ivory tower. I thought that law could help me bridge the theory/practice divide. I was kind of wrong since law schools can’t figure out how to transcend that annoying dichotomy; but the practice of law in social justice fields seems to figure it out pretty darn well! Take the stuff you folks do for example: you fight for clients’ rights through traditional lawyering while recognizing that these problems are not individual but systemic in nature. So you go out there and reach out to the community in other ways.

I believe in all of that stuff too. And will you just look at my faboo CV? I’ve got a bunch of letters behind my name that tells you that I worked my buns off reading and writing about social problems. And will you check out my other relevant experience outside of the classroom? Let me show you how that I know how to operate all kinds of computers, fax machines and photocopiers.

Social justice! Woo! Damn the man! Damn him! Inside or outside the courtroom, I will damn him good. Soooo…when do I start?

Or something like that. Gulp. Help! Well, not really. I’m not the one who needs the help. I’m the one who wants to help. That’s what I’m trying to get across to the people who have already got the appropriate helping infrastructure. Sigh.

No, no. Just ONE cup a day. Two is way too much for me. I would be shaking. Even one cup a day is a bit shocking since I get jittery quite easily. I can, however, combine tea and coffee consumption. Tea just doesn’t give me the shakes.
