Finders Keepers, Looters Weepers.

I don’t know why the flickr stream thingamabobber is being a beeyotch. There are 100s of new pics up that are slightly more organized than the previous Penang mishmash. So go forth and enjoy. I especially love the Karaoke set. ‘Twas fun, Karaoke night.

Don’t expect the KL pictures just yet since I’ve got to replace my lost USB cable. Boo. And an urns for good measure. You can check Matt’s photostream
for some pics from our trip. I feature prominently on his page since he’s annoyingly clingy. Just kidding. 😀

I’m kind of annoyed with myself for not taking a little more initiative and recording my thoughts on this little adventure o’ mine; but on the other hand, if I weren’t out there LIVING it all, I would have nothing to record. And so it goes.

Kuala Lumpur was glorious. Someone was smiling down upon as even the haze had been lifted enough to allow us to roam around mask-free. Frankly, I think that summer heat/smog combo in Causeway Bay wreaks more havoc on lungs than a typical KL day. Then again, I didn’t have the guts to go a few weeks ago when tourists cancelled trips, locals stayed in and stray dogs died on the streets in the name of the haze.

Even though I haven’t actually seen that much of Singapore in the past month to feel oppressed (dudes, school gets in the way of sightseeing!), it was a welcome change to walk into the beautiful chaos of KL.

Even as the four of us sleepily stumbled off the bus at 5:00 a.m., our senses were accosted. All 5 senses had to shift from zzzzzzzzzzzzz to WHOA! It was great. The traffic of human and vehicular varieties. The pushy taxi drivers. The gawking locals.

With no concrete plans for accomodation, we were easily convinced to join a representative of a recommended guesthouse who had told us that he would provide free transport to hosteldom. “I provide transport free of charge! Free!”

“Free!” actually meant “by foot.”

This was fine since the guesthouse wasn’t far. Since the sun wasn’t about to rise any time soon and we had to wait for a room to free up, we headed over to a 24-hour Indian joint and enjoyed a prime breakfast, nay, feast that altogether costed us “just a few quid!”

That became a running theme/joke throughout the weekend: how everything is dirt cheap to those Brits. They get to divide Malaysian ringgit by 6. That’s just WRONG.

Edit: A bit too knackered to continue my trivial travel story. That also means that I’m too tired to go into all my views on the disastrous, too little too late efforts to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. It is appalling and sad.

So is this. More info can be found here

Dude, I think you flashed us on the Karaoke 4 pic. Nice way to wake up this morning. 😉
I was a little confused by the Flickr stream. I was like, what’s Old City Hall doing in Singapore? I had no clue there was a Toronto-S’pore relationship. 😀

I looked again and I don’t think I flashed y’all. I can’t be sure since I don’t remember what colour undies I wore that day. Let’s just assume that it is my pale inner thigh flab and call it a day. Not sure if that’s better though. 😛

On Thursday night, a bunch of us did some goofy posing in the grocery store. One pic has me climbing into the cart and I definitely DO flash the camera in that one. Though right after Robert took the picture I said, “Oh no. Did I flash the camera? Lemme check.” I only noticed when I got back home and double-checked that indeed, my Victoria’s Secrets were not so secret anymore. Meh. I still want to post the pic because it is funny; but I might have to put on one of those black bars. The downside is that people viewing the pic will likely think that the black bar means that I was going commando. Sigh.
